Presents George Clapper

George has been interested in painting since childhood, but did not pursue it seriously until war injuries force him into an early retirement in 1976. He holds a degree in architecture and worked in San Francisco bay area for 28 years in the consultant mechanical industry.

George at one time was blind and paralyzed from injuries sustained in WW2, and counts his blessing after overcoming these handicaps with two years in naval hospitals and three serious surgeries on his spine since that time.

His earliest gallery showing was at the Keller gallery in San Francisco in 1947. He has also shown with the Belmont San Carlos chapter of the Children's Homes Society, Paradise chapter of Family Life Saver Services and the Paradise Art Center and many other northern California locations. His largest work was an 8-foot by 40-foot mural of scenes of Northern California on the wall of the Grange building. Clappers' work also appears on covers and illustrations for two books on cowboy times. While living in Magallia, CA, he taught for 18 years. He?s also given seminars "Watching an Artist at Work" in his home studio and at the studio at the Paradise Pines Art Guild.

He has studied with Richard Hazel,Don Foster, Don Nash and R.Bradford Johnson.

The Clappers move to southern CA. In 1997. George is a member of the Carlsbad Oceanside Art League and presently exhibits at Ginger Grayham Fine Arts in Carlsbad, CA.
